Simple Faith

The following hymn, written in 1850, by Anna L. Waring touches on one of my challenges.

Being content in the little things God has for me to do.

Well, maybe they're not "little things", since doing laundry for six people is no little thing, but it is mundane. I enjoy cooking for the many mouths that often find themselves at our table, it also is no "little thing", but I think at times, in the light of eternity what does it add up to....

But I am learning, (albeit slowly) to thank God for the "portions" He has for me.

I don't know if you struggle in the same area, but if you do you may enjoy these words...

Father, I know that all my life
Is portioned out for me,
And the changes that are sure to come
I do not fear to see;
I ask Thee for a present mind,
Intent on pleasing Thee.

I would not have the restless will
That hurries to and fro,
Seeking for some great thing to do
Or secret thing to know;
I would be treated as a child
And guided where I go.

Wherever in the world I am,
In whatsoever estate,
I have a fellowship with hearts
To keep and cultivate.

May God bless and keep you! :)
